Your Travel Guide here on East Coast Vacations is a seasoned traveler at 74 years young.

You might say Joe started his travels early.. as a junior in high school when as a Naval Reservist, he took his first significant trip to Navy Boot camp in summer 1954. In summer 1955, the Navy again sent him literally sailing.. this time on a cruise from the Philadelphia Naval Yard to Halifax, NS.

College summers were rather uneventful, spent earning money, for school, but upon graduation in 1960, he took his first long driving trip from Erie, Pa, to Bainbridge, Ga.  In Dec of the same year, he drove back north and got married in January, and headed out with his new bride to Big Srping, Tx. At that time there were few interstates, no luxuries like Cell Phones, etc.

Ten years of active duty in the USAF had him and his wife on many other travels.. some during transfers, some just for recreation and vacation, with the highlites being a 3 year assignment in Germany with opportunities to travel much of that country, England, Holland, Luxembourg and others.

But after leaving the Air Force, Joe settled pretty much in the East Coast, initially in the Philadelphia area after discharge from McGuire AFB, but then moving around to Dayton, Ohio, and finally to Pittsburgh, Pa for over 30 years. Pittsburgh was a great base for travel of the East Coast and forms the groundwork for much of this blog.

Now as a resident of Fl, he and his wife are beginning to learn much of the history of the far south and have enjoyed Orlando (of course) but also a great weekend in America's Oldest City of St Augustine. A trip to the Keys is planned, and ideally will be done "off season" to avoid the crowds (and the higher prices).

His current "base" is right near the departure end of runway 27 of the West Palm Beach airport, also right off I-95 and the Fl Turnpike. Plenty to see and report on in this area.. so come back often.
