Baltimore Attractions

Wow! And so convenient to so much of the population of the US.. right in their back yard. Now we'll admit this is more of a "warm season" vacation destination and it can be viewed in a couple of ways: One as a base for an East Coast Area vacation, or a destination in itself.  We first started using it as a weekend destination, but a week day might better as there are not the crowds.  It could be combined with a week day to take in a baseball game.

Submarine Torsk Available to Tour

 Our base of operations in Baltimore is of course.. Harbor Place. Harbor Place is easily a place to spend a couple of days. The walking distance attractions include the National Aquarium at Baltimore; the Old Ironsides wooden battleship; a tour of the Torsk, the divingist submarine in the Navy. Visiting those attractions in "high season" can easily take a day.

While we have a favorite seafood restaurant in the food wing of the site, another great fun thing is a sunset dinner cruise out into the Chesapeake.  One of our first visits we had two teen age daughters.. and a very charming young college age waiter. There was dancing on the evening cruise, and he asked each girl to  dance with him, which he did... and they both promptly fell in love.

But there's more to Baltimore still in walking distance. Of course, the baseball stadium, but maybe there's some kind of home or boat or RV show at the convention center, and there's quaint little restaurants.

Time to get in the car? And it's summer?  Beaches becon within a short drive.

Baltimore Area Lodging

Using Baltimore as a "base" for the Delmarva Peninsula?  Don't pass up Annapolis.. or you could get a place there. Anything from Bed and Breakfasts to really major luxury hotels to "decent chain hotels primarily just to sleep.. but not resort in for a few days"
